About State Headquarter

The Indian Red Cross Society in the State of Bengal in the pre independent period was created by the Indian Red Cross Society (Bengal branch) Act. 1920 and Bengal Act No. VIII of 1920, as adopted in the then Constituent Assembly and subsequently amended in the Indian Parliament.

The SHQ of the IRCS, Bengal Branch is located at 5 & 6, Govt. Place ( North), Kolkata – 700001, which is within the Estate of the then Governor General of Bengal in pre independence period and presently of the Hon’ble Governor of the state of West Bengal, who is the Hon’ble President of the Indian Red Cross Society, West Bengal State Branch.

Mission of the IRCS

The Mission of the IRCS is to prevent and alleviate suffering with complete impartiality, making no discrimination as to nationality, race, sex , religion beliefs, language , class or political opinions
